Been coming here since I was 5. Best pub ever. Beer is amazing and food was good, chips just right after a long walk over the fells

This place is a gem. Hardworking Helen and Simon run a wonderful little community-owned pub, the first of its kind in the country - and serve a superb range of excellent beers which are brewed out the back! All inexpensive and uniformly excellent. The food is always excellent too - the local Herdwick lamb is out of this world and hard to finish because the portions are so generous. Booking is advisable as a result. There's regular music too. Sadly I live hundreds of miles away but it feels like home every time I'm lucky enough to walk in.
